On September 21, 2012 at 4:48 am, Washington County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a
residence in the 18700 block of NW Shadow Lane concerning a reported burglary. This is in
Rock Creek, an area of the Enhanced Sheriff's Patrol District (ESPD). The resident reported
there was an unknown man sleeping on his kitchen floor.
When deputies arrived, they found 20-year-old Cristian Villarreal-Castillo sleeping on the
kitchen floor of the residence. Sheriff's Deputies found many items in the residence had been
ransacked through in an apparent attempt to steal valuables. It is believed that Cristian
Villarreal-Castillo entered the residence and was gathering items when he fell asleep.
When deputies took Cristian Villarreal-Castillo into custody, he was found to have numerous
small items in his possession that appear to have been stolen elsewhere. He had portable GPS
units and other small electronics in his pants pockets. It is suspected the electronics were
stolen from unlocked vehicles. Deputies were able to connect Cristian Villarreal-Castillo with
one additional burglary that was committed a few hours prior to him being arrested.
Investigators believe Cristian Villarreal-Castillo gained entry into the residences through
unlocked doors. The Washington County Sheriff's Office reminds citizens to double check the
locks on all doors and windows when leaving or retiring for the evening.
Cristian Villarreal-Castillo was lodged in the Washington County Jail and charged with two
counts of Burglary, Attempted Theft, Trespassing, and Criminal Mischief. He is held on
$100,000 bail. There are more charges pending as the investigation continues.
